My Policy: A Portal for Policy Owners
Illinois Mutual’s policyowners often have a single means of checking their policy information with the company and it is through the My Policy portal which houses all of their insurance information, from their premiums to their beneficiaries. The My Policy portal houses all of this information within one spot making it difficult for the user to find what they are looking for.
My task was to make this site more user-friendly as well as provide information to the policyowner about other products the company offers.
We want users to have quick access to their policies via dashboard along with some quick links provided by policy service based on their experience with what people call in for the most often to change. This project involved working with multiple departments including policy service, claims, IT, legal, and graphics. There was a lot of collaboration between these teams in order to get everyone updated on the changes that were being made along with receiving their input on what all changes should be made.
In order for the developers to have enough time to bring this project to life and for the company to meet its scheduled time frame, this project had a very quick turnaround of two months for all mockups to be completed along with all the assets to be provided meaning some steps were skipped during the design process. For example, user personas or customer journeys.
The user research was provided by policy service, claims, and the company’s dedicated research team.
Over 100 screens were completed within a couple of weeks. There were numerous reiterations and changes made to ensure the best product with all the details needed so the development team could move the project forward.
